SM 08 - Neurobiochemistry

In this module, you will study the molecular mechanisms that govern neuronal communication, focusing on ligand-gated ion channels, post-synaptic proteins, and their interactions in health and disease. You will express and analyze synaptic proteins in mammalian cells, produce and use AAV vectors, prepare hippocampal neuron cultures, and apply advanced techniques such as fluorescence microscopy, immunodetection, and isothermal titration calorimetry. By the end of the course, you will have gained practical expertise in studying protein interactions and neuronal structures, equipping you to connect molecular insights with complex neurobiological processes.
